Can I Share a Fictionalized Version of Real Events? #

Yes, with transparency.

We understand that not every story can be told exactly as it happened. Sometimes, names must be changed, timelines compressed, or moments blended for clarity, safety, or emotional impact. That’s okay, as long as the core truth remains.

If your story is a fictionalized version of real events, please note it when you submit. There’s a field where you can indicate that it’s “based on a true story” or “fictionalized for privacy.” This helps us ensure the archive remains trustworthy while still making space for artistic expression and emotional truth.

Remember:

  • Fictionalized doesn’t mean false.
  • Your story can reflect deep truths, even if some details are altered.
  • What matters most is honoring the spirit of the experience, especially when it involves people who can’t speak for themselves.

We welcome storytelling in all its forms. Just let the reader know how to hold your story: as memory, as tribute, or as a reflection shaped by time.
