What Is the Story of the Month? #
Story of the Month is our way of lifting up stories that resonate beyond the page. Each month, our editorial team, known as the Story Guardians from our companion publication, The Firing Line on Substack will select one contribution that carries exceptional emotional depth, insight, or humanity.
Selections are not based on writing polish or fame. They’re chosen for truthfulness, cultural meaning, or the quiet courage of reflection. The Story of the Month is:
- Featured on our Story of the Month page
- Shared across our digital platforms
- Considered for adaptation into a Barking Justice anthem
- Eligible for an optional interview, if the storyteller agrees
We believe that a single story can light the way for many. Whether it’s a tale of migration, military service, family resilience, or untold injustice, when a story moves hearts, we want to make sure it’s heard.
And remember:
Every story matters. Whether or not yours is featured, it becomes part of our growing archive, a repository of collective memory meant to outlast us all.
So write from your truth. That’s the only qualification that counts.
